Hedi Ben Mahmoud The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV

 Hedi Ben Mahmoud joined the Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV in September 2014 as Chief Risk Officer for The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV, the European banking entity, as well as Senior Risk Officer for Continental Europe.  Hedi is a member of the Executive Committee of The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV. He is also an Executive Director of the SA/NV Board.

In his capacity, Hedi’s responsible for the Risk Management framework across all risk types, as well as the Business continuity framework.

Hedi has a strong and diverse background within Financial Services as he has spent almost ten years with ING Group. Hedi has started with ING within the credit world, working for the Credit Portfolio Group, in the first line of defense. He then moved to second line of defense, to manage a quant team and a credit stress testing team at the Group level. Hedi then moved back to ING Belgium to create Capital Management at Legal entity level, in order to manage classical capital streams (planning, ICAAP…) as well as liquidity issues, both economic and regulatory. In that role, Hedi has managed, inter alia, securitization issuances as well as an investment portfolio. His last role within ING combined the launch of a new Treasury framework for Australia, Eastern Europe, Turkey and Germany, with the role of first line Interest Rate Risk Manager for non-Benelux countries.

Previously Hedi spent about 5 years with various consulting firms, mainly Deloitte consulting, working especially in Energy Trading and Risk Management.

Hedi holds a degree in Electro-Mechanics Engineering from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and a Masters in Management and Investment, for Solvay Business School, Université Libre de Bruxelles.
